At least 18 killed, several injured in Uganda landslide

According to the International News Agency, a large landslide from a landfill site in the Ugandan capital fell on houses, burying dozens of people and cattle under the debris.
The accident took place when the residents were sleeping. During the rescue operation, the bodies of 18 people were pulled out from the debris while some were pulled out in injured condition. The condition of the injured is out of danger.
Police spokesman Patrick Onyago said 14 people and more than 10 animals were rescued safely during the rescue operations. Around 1,000 people were displaced and shifted to relief camps.
Uganda's meteorological department says rains will continue in the country for two more days. Citizens are prohibited from leaving their homes unnecessarily.
