U.S. gives $3.5 billion more military aid to Israel
Washington: The United States will soon release $3.5 billion in additional military aid to Israel for weapons and military equipment.
A State Department spokesman said in a statement that Congress had been notified that the government had decided to provide billions of dollars of foreign military aid to Israel.
CNN had earlier reported that the aid was part of $14 billion approved by Congress in April this year.
Tensions in the Middle East are expected to intensify after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh during the ongoing war in Gaza, and on the one hand there are calls for a ceasefire, but the United States has decided to provide more military aid to Israel at the same time.
Israel has martyred more than 100 people, including a large number of women and children, in Gaza in the latest attack.
Nearly 40,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 90,000 wounded in bombardment and ground attacks launched on Gaza on October 7 last year.
Palestine is facing food and medicine shortages, while Israel has also blocked aid routes.
