China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that he supports the defense of Iran's sovereignty, security and national dignity.

"We support Iran's right to defence," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Iran's acting foreign minister Ali Baqir Kani during a telephone conversation, according to a chinese foreign ministry statement.
Wang Yi, during a conversation with iran's foreign minister, once again condemned the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, saying that this action violates Iran's sovereignty and threatens the stability of the region.
He told Ali Baqiri that the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh had directly affected the process of mediation for a ceasefire in Gaza and threatened peace and stability in the region.
The Chinese foreign minister said China supports Iran's sovereignty, security and national dignity in accordance with the law, as well as supports efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region and is ready to maintain close contact with Iran.
