After the recent riots in the United Kingdom, the number of people arrested further reduced the number of places in prisons

According to British media, the government has launched emergency measures to reduce the number of prisoners in order to house prisoners convicted of recent riots.

According to the report, due to lack of space in the jails, it has been decided to keep the prisoners awaiting appearance in police cells.

British prisons were overcrowded, with the decision to release 40 percent of prisoners who had completed their sentences
"Operation Early Dawn" has been launched to create space in the jails. Britain's prisons minister says the emergency measures will help manage the pressure on prisons.

Earlier, last month, the government had decided that the process of early release of prisoners will be started from September to create more capacity in the jails.

The report stated that prisons in England and Wales have room for only 700 more male prisoners. According to the government plan, the government had decided to release 40% of the prisoners who had completed their sentences to make room in the prisons. Initially, it was decided to release about 5,500 prisoners.

It was also decided that prisoners convicted of serious and sexual offenses would not be able to avail of this concession.

Keep in mind that after the Southport incident this month, more than 1,000 people were arrested in the riots in England.
